GNC HQ: OFFICE DESIGN FOR WELLNESS

In 2017, TORUS designed the GNC Headquarters in Guatemala City, focusing on wellness and sustainability. The office features semi-open, transparent spaces to foster collaboration and trust among team members. The open yet partitioned layout facilitates the easy exchange of ideas and solutions within the company.

Lighting plays a crucial role in the design. Neutral lighting is used in work areas to reduce eye strain, while warm lighting in common areas creates a comfortable environment. The minimalist approach emphasizes order and cleanliness, with minimal signage to avoid visual clutter. Sustainable practices are evident throughout, including the recycling of demolished materials and the use of low-energy LED lighting. Carpets in office areas are certified for sustainability, being PVC-free and LEED certified.

The design promotes an active use of space through walk-and-talk meetings and offline areas for short staff meetings. The open circulation allows natural sunlight to illuminate work areas, and departments are organized to reduce visual clutter. Centralized circulation offers a change in textures and light to differentiate spaces. This project received the 2018 Design Award in the Central American region by ShawContract.
